A lot of people have said that if you watch too much television then your eyes will go square. You may have even heard that too much TV can make it hard for you to maintain your concentration for long periods of time and that your brain will slowly decay into what looks like a pile of mashed potato… As you can probably imagine, none of this is true and there are actually a lot of benefits to binge-watching your favourite TV show.
Did you know that the more TV you watch, the more likely you are to cuddle your partner? In fact, a study has been done and it shows that couples who watch TV together spend more than 5 hours a week cuddling. On top of this, 74% of couples have admitted to having inside jokes about the TV shows that they watch. It doesn’t matter whether you like to watchBritish mysteries or whether you prefer to watch TV shows that revolve around zombies and barbed wire baseball bats because the benefits apply across the board!
It Can Help you to Date
Studies also show that 43% of singles have actually gone out on a date with someone because they like the other person’s film or TV taste. 43% of millennials also judge people based on the TV shows that they watch as well, so don’t be afraid to talk to other people about the shows that you like! It could lead to some very interesting opportunities and it could even help you to really find that special someone.
It Actually Lengthens Your Concentration Span
If you have a bad attention span then you’ll know how hard it can be for you to stay in one place for long periods of time. If you want to really boost your concentration span then TV can be a great way for you to do this. This is especially the case with TV shows that are 40 minutes an episode or longer. Try and find something that grips you (AKA Game of Thrones, or Pretty Little Liars and Gossip Girl in my case) and stick it out. You’d be surprised at how easy it is for you to stay in one place when you get in the rhythm of doing this, and it is a great way for you to boost your knowledge on certain topics as well.
Engaging in New Activities
When you watch TV, it can help you to engage in new activities and it can also give you some great ideas as well. You may have never thought about visiting a museum before or even going hand gliding, but TV can really help to give you the nudge you need to do this and it makes it look so much cooler than it is as well.
So all in all, watching TV is a great way for you to really expand your knowledge and it can even help to get you out of the house. The next time someone tells you that you watch too much TV, make sure that you drop a knowledge bomb on them so that they realise the benefits it has to offer!
