Time goes by so slowly when you’re waiting for your other half. Liam has been gone for almost 6 months now and it’s less than a month til he’s home. Music has really been getting me through lately and this is probably one of my favourite playlists yet, so here it is:
First off, at the beginning of the month (which feels like ages ago), I saw Mamma Mia 2 in the cinema. There’s a blog post on my thoughts if you’re interested. Anyway, I could have easily put the whole soundtrack in this playlist, but that would be cheating. Andante, Andante hit me the most. I’m not sure why but it was the one that stuck in my head among all the more well known classics that featured in the film. Therefore, it takes pride of place at the top of my playlist and every time I listen to it, I remember how much I loved the film.
Glitter & Gold is a really good song. It’s so gritty and really hypes me up to do whatever activity I’m doing while I’m listening to it. But, there is a reason why it’s in this playlist. If you haven’t seen ‘Safe’ on Netflix yet – what are you doing?
Liam, I know you’re reading this, so don’t forget to watch it before I ruin it for you.
Honestly I binge-watched this series SO quickly, I was hooked and this song was the theme tune. It was like the perfect song choice for the show and I’ve been loving it ever since.
Beauty and the Beast came into my head when I was missing Liam (as if I ever stop). He introduced me to Bugzy Malone before he left and this song stood out to me. We all know how much of a Beauty and the Beast fan I am, but that’s not why I love this song. The lyrics really caught my eye and made me feel something. They still do. In some ways, I relate. In other ways, I feel sympathy. Also, the beat (as in all of his tracks) is great and keeps me going throughout the day.
Think was a recommendation from Liam – a good one. I’d never heard of Kaleida and I still don’t know much about the duo. What I do know, is that I really like this song. It’s edgy and catchy and gives me a whole range of different feelings. It really grew on me overtime.
I came across Bed when I had Spotify radio on while I was getting ready one day. Nicki and Ariana’s combination of voices has always been genius and this song is another great track from them both. It’s now my go-to song for when I’m doing makeup.
Now were going into my FAVES of the month.
Be Alright made me so sad when I first heard it on Spotify Radio. It’s such a beautiful and meaningful song. I’m pretty much sure almost everyone can relate to it in someway. I love Dean’s voice and I’ll for sure listen to more of his songs at some point.
Lost Without You haunted me all month. It was advertised on TV and radio constantly. It was played in stores when I was shopping and bars when I was out. It was EVERYWHERE and at some point I fell in love with it. Freya’s tones are beautiful and if any song has summed-up how I’ve been feeling this month, it’s this one. I also really want to learn to play piano now.
The 1975 were back at it again with another catchy track. They’re just killing it at the moment, what can I say? I’ll for sure be dancing to this in bars waiting for them to announce a tour.
Capital Letters was a suggested song from Spotify and they did good because I love it! Bloodpop are creating some mainstream bangers and I’m falling right into their trap, so keep them coming.
Finally, Liam sent me Eastside and as soon as I listened to it, I said: “hey, this sounds a lot like Ed’s style.” So, when I googled it, I wasn’t shocked to find that Mr Sheeran had had his input. I can spot my king anywhere. I really love this track and everyone involved in it. Well done Liam because this could be my favourite song of the month.
What do you think of these tracks and which songs have you been loving in August?
