I was so pleased to visit one of my favourite places, Cod Beck Reservoir, as lockdown measures were eased in the UK.
Admittedly, since the lockdown began, I haven’t been exercising enough. A few walks around my house hasn’t really been cutting it. Indoors, I never have the motivation and I much prefer long walks. So, when I heard we were able to travel slightly further for exercise, I took the chance.
A short drive away from my home is Cod Beck Reservoir.
I’ve been a couple of times previously but not for over three years! Conveniently, it is also situated perfectly between myself and my boyfriend – who I’ve been unable to see. But, due to the eased guidelines, I was able to meet up with him at a safe distance there.
The parking isn’t ideal and families and dog-walkers seemed to have the same idea as me. But, it’s a wide open space, so I didn’t for one second feel as though anyone was breaching social distancing rules.
The rural views across Cod Beck, as you walk along the pathway, are just beautiful.
There’s a small picnic area, a long wall to sit on and plenty of green space by the water, where a few people had taken their chance to go fishing.
Ducks had also gathered by the water.
I hope to visit more places that are close by for walks like this. Remaining at a safe distance to others is the most important thing to me. Being close to nature again was a great feeling.
I hope everyone is doing well, despite the circumstances. Let me know what you have been doing during lockdown in the comments.
