Welcome to yet another monthly playlist. These are by far my favourite posts to write.
Here are this months songs:
This month, a friend of mine influenced a few of my choices. Firstly, he recommended I listen to Battle Born. Heavy metal isn’t normally my kind of music but this song is fairly tame and I really like the lyrics so I’ve been listening to it a lot lately.
Broken Bones is an amazing song, also recommended by my friend and I haven’t stopped listening to it all month. My friend sings this so well and whenever I play it, I think of him. I definitely want to start listening to more of Kaleo’s songs. The fact the band are originally from Iceland makes me very happy. I’ve been to Iceland and it’s such a beautiful country.
Rap God has always been one of my all time favourite songs. Eminem is a real lyrical genius and this song just proves that. I’ve been listening to it more than ever lately because I’ve been trying to challenge my friend to learn all of the lyrics. I think he’s going to need a miracle, but he has been trying. Bless him.
Gracious is a truly beautiful song. I was reminded of this song by my friend and I fell back in love with it as soon as I played it. Ben Howard has such a soothing voice.
I saw Jamie Lawson live at Ed’s tour when he first got signed to Gingerbread Man Records and released Wasn’t Expecting That. I can’t believe that was so many years ago. Well, I stumbled across his song Can’t See Straight when I was listening to his new album Happy Accidents. This song seemed like fate. Not only do I have an inside joke with my friend about the word ‘accidents’- the little you ask about that, the better. But, the lyrics of this song totally relate to how I feel about my friend. It just seemed perfect and had to go into this months favourites.
Moving on… Joanne made it into my favourites after I watched the Lady Gaga documentary on Netflix and found out the meaning behind the song. It pulled at my heart strings, now every time I listen to it, I get a little bit emotional.
A Little Time and You Keep It All In look slightly out of place. They are both songs of the early ’90s, released before I was born. But, I spent a lot of my childhood listening to The Beautiful South in the car. These two songs in particular were played so often that every time I hear them, my mind gets send straight back to car rides with my dad. I think I’ve been listening to these songs so often this month because I’m missing home.
I’ve got a feeling Havana is going to be massively overplayed in the media, so I’ll be sick of it soon. But, right now I’ve been loving it because of the amazing beat and of course because Camila Cabello is incredible.
Finally, I must be really loving Five Finger Death Punch because I even fell in love with their song Trouble when it was released recently.
Huge shout-out to my friend Liam who this blog post is dedicated to.
Let me know which songs you guys have been loving this month and what you think of my choices. As always, I love to hear what you think.
