Fashion Influencers’ Picks of the Season

Hey guys, you may remember my last fashion post being a guest post by Claire Hastings, an Australian based aesthetic addict. You all seemed to enjoy her work so here is another great post by her…

It seems like the year before us is going to be remembered for many different influencers who helped shape the beauty and fashion industry. Because they started off as small and grew enough to be noticed by big companies and brands, influencers stand out with their unique style and savvy social skills which they put to good use. They have been predicting trends for a very long time, and because we can never get enough beauty tips, we have turned to them to see what they say will be the highlights of the season.

Sequins everywhere

All things glittery and sparkly will be a big deal, at least that’s what we gather from various Instagram influencers who go crazy over sequins and sparkles. Summer is perfect for wearing sparkly clothes and makeup, so you will be able to pull off that fairy look with ease. Dresses with sequins, glittery, flats, sparkly eyeliner, shiny lip gloss, and a purse to match will be worn everywhere (of course, not all at the same time). Going all-in and covering yourself with sequins and glitter might work for a laid-back summer festival look, but if you’re going to work or school, it’s best to tone it down a bit and pick a single shiny statement piece instead.

Hair on fleek

Megan Lewis

Last year, we’ve noticed the world obsessing over curly hair, and it looks like the obsession is here to stay. Naturally textured hair isn’t going anywhere, on the contrary – the aim is to get the curls as big as possible while still keeping them healthy. Bigger, better hair requires bigger and better hair care, and this means plenty of natural products on your shelves: a jar of coconut oil and shea butter for softness, and a big bottle of organic hair growth shampoo to make those locks long, and soon. It’s time your relaxers and hair straighteners retire while you proudly rock your kinky curls. When styling textured hair, avoid brushing it so as to preserve the curl pattern and instead use your fingers.

Denim forever

Pete Bellis

Of course, many people will be quick to point out that denim never really went out of style (and likely never will), but this season, we’re in for a treat. It seems like double and even triple denim outfits aren’t something to avoid, but rather to embrace. Still, if wearing denim-on-denim doesn’t sound too appealing to you in this heat, you can always reach for denim accessories instead. Denim sandals, denim handbags, as well as denim hats are really stylish, and when you combine them with flowy clothes, you will certainly draw everyone’s attention.

Embrace the pastels

Micheile Henderson

With ultraviolet being the Pantone color of the year, it’s difficult to ignore those mesmerizing 50 shades of purple that are not-so-quietly sneaking their way into our wardrobe. Still, it’s not just about purple and violet, it seems like pastels are the next big thing in the fashion industry. Lilac, soft pink, pale blue, washed-out green… Research for those dusty pink gorgeous formal dresses online and pick the one that works for you. You can even layer several differently colored pieces and look like you’ve just gotten off the runway. It seems that pastel shades are perfect for flowy, feminine pieces such as maxi skirts, kimonos, and loose shirts, and that’s perfect for the upcoming heat waves.

Golden glow

Just as sequins are going to rule clothing, a golden glow is going to rule our makeup, all thanks to Rihanna and her amazing products. Rihanna might not have invented gold makeup, but she re-imagined it and made it more inclusive, which resulted in millions of people falling in love with gold hues all over again.  Her Body Lava body luminizer in two breathtaking shades (Brown sugar and Who needs clothes), as well as her Killawatt highlighter, will transform everyone’s skin into gold-kissed perfection.

Even though there are many famous and popular influencers all over the world and they all have different tastes and preferences, we can’t help but notice that they also agree on many things: this season is all about sparkle and innovation. Take it from them and don’t be afraid to use fashion and makeup to express who you are and what you love.
