This is a collaborative post bringing you the best tips for your next road trip with the girls.
Do you have a long weekend ahead and want to have some fun with your girlfriends? Think of having a road trip.
It’s a fun, inexpensive way to spend time with your friends discovering new places. But, to make it successful, start the plans early enough.
First, get a list of the friends you’ll want to include in the trip. It’s more fun when you have at least two friends on the trip. Make sure to ask them before actualizing the plans. Assuming that they’d want to be part of the adventure can lead to disappointments.
Together, you can decide the destination, dates and how to make it fun. You’ll also have to come up with a budget which typically is not expensive, especially when using your cars. Here are tips to help you create a successful event.
Have Your Car Ready
Because you’ll be using your car on the trip, have it thoroughly checked together with other vehicles you’ll use on the trip. Make sure to take it to a genuine and experienced car servicing expert and follow through with the recommendations.
If you own a mini, don’t take it to any ordinary auto repair shop but to a mini servicing expert. You’ll be assured of quality services, genuine parts and durable accessories. That goes for any other make of car. You don’t want your trip to be cut short because the car broke down.
Your Destination and Route
If it’s your first road trip, don’t drive very far away from your home, but as you get used to road trips, you can choose longer and more challenging destinations. As you select the destination, understand the route clearly.
How long will it take to get there? Will you have stopovers on the way, and how many? If you can, drive during the day and make sure you arrive at the destination before dusk. You need ample time to arrange where to sleep, have dinner then rest well. It’s also safer driving during the day. In case of car trouble, you’ll get help quickly, and it’s not as scary as it would be at night.
Bring Entertainment Along
Although the driver needs to have all her attention on the road, it would be boring not to have some music on the trip. Bring along portable mp3 players, DVD players and any other entertainment accessory you can think of. Also, don’t be in a rush to arrive at the destination. Although you may want to get there before dusk, leave home early enough so that you can have time to enjoy the scenery, weather and attractions on the way.
Pack Snacks and Other Accessories
Because you don’t know how long you’ll be on the road, and even when you know, always be prepared for the unexpected. You might find your designated lunch stopover doesn’t have ideal foods, or you have unforeseen delays on the road.
People tend to eat more when having fun; therefore, have enough snacks, water and other drinks you can enjoy but don’t let the designated driver take alcohol. Also, have enough water with you and warm clothes. The more time you take preparing the trip, the more fulfilling it will be.
I can’t wait to plan our next road trip as soon as we can get out and about again.
